The announcement cluster this publication called a fortnight ago is now two weeks old and still running: five more senior moves this week, three of them into seats that did not exist before. The Swiss broke silence — on their board, not their strategy, which is its own kind of answer. The ledger, the patterns, one number, your verdict on when the first Swiss statement lands, and Monday’s start date. Five minutes.
The Week in Hiring
Patterns by market
SWITZERLAND Week seven ended with a statement — of a kind. Julius Baer said it plans to nominate two new directors to its board, former executives of UBS and HSBC. Read it as this publication reads Swiss autumns: governance announcements precede strategy announcements, and a house that has just closed an enforcement file and is now refreshing its board is sequencing toward something. It is not the autumn statement, and the standing call survives another week — but it is the second catalyst in ten days at the same institution, and the fortnight clock will start the day the first house speaks on strategy. Your verdict on when, below.
EUROPE · THE NORDICS BNP Paribas announced a strategic entry into Nordic wealth management, hiring the former family office head of SEB to lead it — a market entry executed as a single senior appointment, and a family-office specialist in the founding seat. Note the pattern this publication has tracked since the HSBC appointment in September: when platforms enter or rebuild a market now, the first hire is increasingly the family-office architect, not the rainmaker.
ASIA · PLATFORM A former HSBC executive with three decades in wealth and asset management will lead Citi’s BlackRock-powered portfolio solutions platform in Asia Pacific — a platform seat, a product seat, and a cross-institutional one, all at once. It is the quarter’s clearest single illustration of the two-in-three: the senior hire of the week in Asia was not a coverage hire, and its economics are built on a partnership rather than a book.
NORTH AMERICA · CANADA RBC Wealth Management named a long-tenured insider to a newly created chief commercial officer role. Internal promotion into a new structural seat — the exact combination the September ledger flagged as the season’s signature at the top of the market, now visible at the next tier down.
UNITED KINGDOM Weatherbys Private Bank appointed a head of sports, media and entertainment, hiring from Coutts. A specialist-segment seat at a heritage boutique, three weeks before the Budget: the UK market is still building coverage for the clients who stay, which is the half of the migration story the exodus numbers obscure.
The Ledger
Week three of Q4

Forty-three senior moves since 24 August — ten added since quarter close, which makes the fortnight since 25 September the busiest in the tracker’s short life, exactly as the base case said. The structural share stands at 28 to 15: two in three, held through seven weekly counts and a ten-move surge. Three of this week’s five moves were into newly created seats. The second-round column remains at zero and will until the August cohort’s anniversary window; Monday’s start date opens the first live cohort.
ONE NUMBER

Three seats created rather than filled, in a single week, across three continents: a Nordic market entry, an APAC platform leadership role, and a chief commercial officer where there had never been one. Created seats are the purest signal in the hiring market, because nobody creates a seat to replace anyone — they create it because the strategy requires a function that did not exist. Three in a week is the market telling you where the strategies are going before the strategies are published. The Swiss, take note.
For the operator: a created seat has no incumbent benchmark, which means its first occupant sets its compensation, its scope and its reporting line — and the market tends to pay a premium for the absence of precedent. The seats being created this quarter are family-office architecture, platform and product leadership, and commercial roles that sit above coverage. If one of those describes the thing you have built rather than the book you carry, this is the quarter your CV is being priced upward.
The Poll
Your verdict: when the Swiss speak
Last Friday this publication asked the readership to put a date on the first major Swiss autumn statement. The verdict: ⟨X⟩ per cent said before 15 October; ⟨Y⟩ per cent the back half of October; ⟨Z⟩ per cent November; ⟨W⟩ per cent said it holds past the Investor-Day season. ⟨One-line reading once the numbers land, set against this week’s board move.⟩ The readership’s modal window is now on the record beside this publication’s fortnight-cascade call. Both get graded when the first statement lands.
This week's poll — the created seat
Three seats were created this week. Which created seat does your platform most need and does not yet have? Head of family offices · Head of alternatives or platform · Chief commercial or revenue officer · Head of a specialist client segment. One tap; verdict next Friday.
Watching next week
Monday: the first marquee start date in Singapore. The season’s most contested franchise moves from announcement to desk, the second-round column opens its first live cohort, and the ninety-day window for the bankers beneath begins. The Swiss — week eight, two catalysts logged, a readership date on the record. The Gulf’s budget round, now in its decisive month. And the UK, nineteen days from the Budget. Have a good weekend; the tracker is working through it.
